Process

Story Boarding & Concept Development

Our process begins with a strong idea. Using mood boards, character sketches, and environmental concepts, we develop a clear understanding of our clients’ vision.

Character Modeling & Texturing

With the help of industry software we develop 2D concepts into render-ready 3D character models. This usually starts with a basic sculpt or model and then we move on to detail work and texturing for materials like skin.

Rigging

At this stage we build a “skeleton” for the character, giving it digital joints to properly deform its face and body. These joints are paired with controllers that our animators can use to move and pose the character like a puppet.

Animation

From walking and talking to swimming and flying, our animators create the movement to bring characters to life. By studying real-world subjects and keyframing dynamic poses and expressions, we make our characters come alive.

Camera & Object Tracking

We are proficient in 3D match moving software which allows us to perfectly seat 3D objects into real world environments. The filmmakers we work with can feel confident knowing that they can move their camera freely while shooting.

Lighting

Once a shot is animated, it’s up to our lighting artists to make the virtual character fit right in with its live-action surroundings. To do this, we create digital lights to mimic the scene’s real ones.

Compositing

Our talented compositing artists combine render layers, and implement features such as rotoscoping, camera shake, and effects like explosions, fire, magical beams, lighting etc.

Visual Effects

Boiling Point Media was built on feature film visual effects work. We thrive on working as a team and delivering excellence on each project we work on.
